Make Them Talk.

I feel that people who in some way may come to know you often develop a desire to see you achieve more with your life, no matter how successful you might be.
While this feeling may be considered genuine by a lot of people, as a sign or an expression of love, I also feel that you will most times; if you allow yourself to be swayed by the exhibitions and demonstration of this love, find yourself being diverted from finding the true potential of the original path which you had initially set out on.

Sometimes, this love is exhibited in the form of counseling and encouragements received from friends, loved ones and family. Other times in promotions received at work, commendations received from superiors and opportunities offered by benefactors.
Again sometimes, this love is also demonstrated differently via insults and derogatory remarks from the same friends, loved ones and family; because if you were achieving more with your life like they had expected, there would never arise a need to result to slinging slurs and insults.
Other times this love is demonstrated by the community in which you live in. When people look down on you or try to stereotype you into a category. Also when people encourage and patronize your business.

The take away here is that you should recognize when people who are constantly around you, start paying you compliments and dishing out encouragements and also insults and gossips.
If you find yourself on the receiving end of any of the forms of manifestations of people's love, you need to ask yourself if you're on the original path which you set out for yourself.
If you are on the original path then whatever people may say, understand that they just want for you to achieve more with your life, mostly for their own selfish reasons.
When they feel like they are getting through to you, that's when the praises come and if they feel like they are not, that's when they start being tough on you.
Make them talk. Be it praises or slurs, just be sure that you are on your own path and be determined to see it through.
