If Nothing Lasts Forever.

Image
Photo credit: Google images It’s inevitable. Nothing lasts forever. Let us stay in the moment, for even the future relies on this very moment, on the hope for better days, and on the faith of an anticipating heart. Emotions describing to us the state of our present, but if nothing lasts forever, should that be a consolation or desolation? For whatever joy we may feel is destined to end at some point and whatever sadness we feel is just for a little while and can never be forever. Photo credit: Google images Eventually, we all will become nothing except in the memories of those who will remember, the moments of past good deeds accredited to our doing, past mistakes that were never forgiven nor forgotten, a love that was unconditional and selfless and a legacy imprinted deeply in the sands of time. The lyrics of the songs we sang, and videos of the life we lived, recordings to prove the extent of our creative imaginations. The thoughts we stored in books and the offsp

My Night Nurse.

Image
Photo credit: Google images I remember the first time I understood the meaning of the term “night nurse”. Recently relocated to a new community on the outskirts of the city, I did not know my way around. I was about to run an errand for my mother and she was trying her best to describe the best routes I could follow to arrive at the proposed destination. “If you get to the junction, you can’t miss it. There are a lot of night nurses hanging around the junction.” She said. I didn’t quite understand what she meant. “What are night nurses?” I asked. She smiled. I can never get enough of seeing her smile, and how it makes her look so beautiful and young. She then went on to explain that “night nurses” was a term used to refer to prostitutes. And true enough when I got to the junction which she had described there were a number of scantily dressed women of varying ages and body built, all selling sex and trying their best to seduce whoever was horny enough and ready to pay for s

Religion And Politics...

Image
Photo credit: Google images Look at all the crisis in the world. The hypocrites and parasites, the terrorists and tyrants, poverty and bad governments, the world are full of opposites, with an unfair inequality between them. The world crisis birthed from the result of that inequality. The rich vs. the poor, the politicians vs. the rest of the masses, the religious leaders vs. their congregations; Religion and politics, the opinions of the populace split a thousand ways. The first division being the difference in their individual ideologies; Photo credit: Google images False promises of politicians with sugar coated tongues, fosters hope only to yield the heartbreak of disappointment and depression while the self-acclaimed righteousness of religious leaders and their emphatic sermons are now deviated from the repentance of evil deeds and directed at the acquisition of prosperity and wealth, making more false promises to an already demoralized and disappointed majority

Where Are You Now?

Image
Photo credit: Google images I am sitting at my desk at work and trying very hard to defeat the boredom that plagues me at the office whenever I have too much time on my hands and nothing exactly challenging or interesting doing. I have been reading a book by an author named Jackie Collins and titled “American Star” for the past 3 hours and have tried to give it my utmost concentration because it tells a very exciting story about two ill-fated lovers. This book reminds me of you, and all the memories have come flooding back, reminding me of how much we used to be in love and how much we used to hate each other. How much I used to wish I had never met you and how much I have pretended not to miss you since you slipped away from my life. I can’t help but wonder, “Where are you now?” Do you still think of me? Do you still miss me maybe? Would you ever forgive me? Is there even a chance for me in your present? Photo credit: Google images There was a time when most of m

Regrets And Mistakes Are Memories Made.

Image
Photo credit: Google images I was barely seveenteen years old, when we first met while i was out on an evening stroll around the neighbourhood. I can't quite honestly say why i was attracted to her as i watched her walk in front of me but some how i knew i just had to talk to her. For some few minutes i maintained the distance that separated us from each other as i thought out what i was going to say. Almost as if she noticed that someone was following her, she looked behind and for a few seconds our eyes met and held before she broke her gaze away. I could feel my heart beat accelerating as my heart almost leaped out of my throat, the pulse at my neck throbbing so hard like a heartbeat of it's own. Somehow, fear had taken a hold of me, fear of the unknown, fear of rejection and a crazy excitement at the prospect of an adventure. I hastened my steps and soon caught up with her, almost walking by her side. Again she turned and looked directly at me, and i felt m

You Can Get It If You Really Want.

Image
Photo credit: Google images I watched a video on facebook where i saw that Akon the popular R&B singer had signed legal documents with the government of Senegal giving him “Akon” rights to a land mass where he proposes to build his own city. A city with it’s own airport, transportation system, hotels and businesses and it’s own approved crypto-currency called “Akoin”. Evidence to the lyrics of the Jimmy Cliff's song, “you can get it if you really want, but you must try”. I have never been so inspired as i am watching the video where Akon himself explained about his visions of his own city being built in his home country Senegal. Photo credit: Google images I had a heated arguement with a very close friend of mine because he said and i quote “do you know the bullshit Akon had to tolerate from people before he got his city?” But i didn’t quite agree that anyone as wealthy enough to buy the rights to a land mass in his country for the purpose of building a ci
