"Books ain't cool no more." Said Johnny
" I'd rather be a rapper like my uncle" he continued...

Struck by the reality of the growing generation where books become the enemy, one wonders how much of the reading culture can be sustained in the coming generations.
With music gradually taking over the world with diverse cultures such as hiphop, afrobeat, rhythm and blues amongst others, it has become noticeable the number of youths presently engaged in the making of music.
With more youths trying desperately to gain wealth and fame through music, and disregarding books and the reading culture for the pursuance of the former.

It is unfair to say that music is the primary cause of this depreciation in the interest of youths for reading their books and gaining an education, as music can also be utilised as a tool for reading.
But in recent times, the promotion of gun violence, pornography, and indecency has mainly been done through music videos. And it's no longer shocking to see young women dress shabbily and young men too are not exempted. Increment in gun violence in schools make world news headlines and drug and alcohol use amongst teenager is now trending.
Thus it's no longer a wonder why Johnny don't want to go school no more or why Johnny says that books ain't cool no more.
