Respect for the man Reminisce.
Reminisce is one of my favourite yoruba naija pop musicians. And while I have enough respect for him as an artist and a businessman (he recently clinched a samsung endorsement deal.)
I have gained a new respect for Reminisce not just as a public figure but as an ordinary man that he is.
This happened after reading a post by popular Nigeria music website "naijaloaded" about his commitment issues with his baby mama.
While he wouldn't rush into marriage because of a baby and also considers his future and the impending end of his career as a musician in future.
Here is the quoted statement from Remi speaking on why he doesn't flaunt how much he's got on popular social media sites that has got me feeling this new atom of respect towards a great Nigerian music role model.
"I am a very reserved artist. I am able to differentiate between Reminisce the artist and Remi the family man. That is why I don't promote luxury.
There is nothing I need that I can't afford but I am not going to show off on social media. When artists do such a thing, they appear superficial and unapproachable to their fans. Instead I simply invest in people."
It was the over extravagant lifestyle led by many music artist in the past that led to their financial crisis at an age where music could no longer redeem them. We've all heard of the MC HAMMER story and a whole bunch of other stories.
Glad to be a fan of an artist who doesn't only think outside the box, but also stands out positively in the midsts of colleagues whose excessive lifestyle has gotten them so much negative buzz and life scarring scandals.
